Translation in Prokaryotes and Eukaryotes

Translation is the process of synthesis of protein using mRNA as template

  • Translation in prokaryotes requires following components:
  • mRNA
  • TRNAs
  • Ribosome
  • 20 different amino acids
  • Initiation factor
  • Elongation factors
  • Release factors
  • The translation of the sequence of nucleotides in an mRNA molecule into the sequence of amino acids in its polypeptide product can be divided into three stages:
  •  Polypeptide chain initiation,
  •  Chain elongation,
  •  Chain termination.
