Entner-Doudoroff pathway
Entner-Doudoroff pathway
- It is an alternative pathway for the oxidation of glucose, producing a mixture of pyruvate and glyceraldehyde-3-phosphate.
- Operated in some of the bacterial species such as Pseudomonas, Rhizobium, Azotobacter, agrobacterium, and a few other gram-negative genera. Very few gram-positive bacteria have this pathway, with Enterococcus faecalis being a rare exception.
