Translation in Prokaryotes and Eukaryotes
Translation is the process of synthesis of protein using mRNA as template
- Translation in prokaryotes requires following components:
- mRNA
- TRNAs
- Ribosome
- 20 different amino acids
- Initiation factor
- Elongation factors
- Release factors
- The translation of the sequence of nucleotides in an mRNA molecule into the sequence of amino acids in its polypeptide product can be divided into three stages:
- Polypeptide chain initiation,
- Chain elongation,
- Chain termination.
